Lac de l'Entonnoir, Upper Doubs, France. Osprey habitat.

Many thanks to all!

Our second Osprey Morning of the year was hot and sunny with no wind, but seemed a little quiet, perhaps due to the (nearly too) perfect weather. Our eagle-eyed (and eared) observers recorded at least 111 bird species, a comparable number to that of the first Osprey Morning. However, a few species (like Hoopoe, Wryneck, Willow Warbler and Nightingale) had become silent. On the other hand, a Spoonbill (that is summering this year in Fanel, but not easy to see), and several waders heading south (2 Wood Sandpiper, 1 Greenshank, plus 5 Green Sandpipers seen at 4 different sites) were additional to the ones seen on June 4. Several mammals were also spotted, especially early in the morning: Roe Deer, Wild Boar, Beaver, Fox and even one superb Pine Marten. So getting up so early, even for those not lucky enough to have seen an Osprey, was well worth it!
