Such a remarkable observation of this raptor (to which not even high mountains present a major barrier) played a decisive\u00a0role in the start of the project.\u00a0At a time when <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nosoiseaux.ch\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Nos Oiseaux<\/em><\/a> was preparing to\u00a0celebrate its\u00a0100th birthday (having been created just\u00a0around the time when the last pair of breeding Ospreys in Switzerland were breathing their last), it seemed appropriate to\u00a0undertake a project aimed at bringing this species back.<\/p>\n<p>Roy Dennis,\u00a0one of the\u00a0most experienced\u00a0Osprey experts in Europe,\u00a0was then\u00a0invited to western Switzerland by\u00a0<em>Nos Oiseaux<\/em> to undertake a feasibility study.<em>\u00a0<\/em>The result of his visit in January 2012 was positive: Switzerland still has ample\u00a0habitat and fish\u00a0for the birds to thrive. The only\u00a0problem is that once\u00a0birds are eliminated in a given region, they lose their tradition to nest there.
